Brand Republic was yesterday told of the job losses, by a source who put the number of redundancies at around 18.
When contacted, an agency spokesman confirmed where the cuts were being made but could not provide a figure.
The agency's statement said that the changes stemmed from a review of the agency's offering undertaken by WWAV Rapp Collins chief executive Marco Scognamiglio since his appointment in January.
"It's imperative we align our business to better meet client needs and have people with the right skill sets in the right positions. This is regrettably resulting in some people going, but we have to ensure that we are structured in a way that makes sense for our business and our clients' businesses," Scognamiglio said.
The agency claims £127m in billings and has around 240 staff based at its offices in Hammersmith in West London.
