Wrangler set for UK retail chain

Wrangler is to open the first in a chain of UK stores next month as the jeans brand seeks to build its 'aspirational' fashion credentials.

The US brand, owned by the VF Corporation, will open the first store in Manchester next month. It aims to attract new customers by using a boutique-style design to compete with fashionable brands such as French Connection and Diesel.

European marketing manager Scott Otte said the store, designed by JHP, would be used to showcase collections and create a 'Wrangler world'.

The stores are part of a reinvention of the 100-year-old brand, which Wrangler began in 2003. Last year it revamped 80% of its collection to reach a younger market.
