Sorrell is reported to have received shares worth 拢6.7m and 拢10m in cash as part of the performance plan, which was set up in 1999.
The WPP chief and his family are now understood to hold 17.3m shares, worth nearly 拢90m.
It has also been reported that WPP finance director Paul Richardson has received shares worth 拢1.5m and director Howard Paster, who is in charge of PR and public affairs, received shares worth 拢1.4m.
In June, the firm's annual report revealed that Sorrell's pay had increased by a third and now exceeds 拢2m. The report showed that last year he earned 拢2.13m, compared with 拢1.59m in 2002.
Earlier this year, Sorrell was heading for a row with investors over his generous incentive plan, which could net him 拢44m. The pay plan was part of a deal for 19 senior executives, set to receive a possible 拢112.5m.
It was eventually cleared by shareholders at an extraordinary general meeting. The Association of British Insurers had given the plan a "red top" warning, but reduced this to "amber" after reassurances from WPP.
