Day, who has racked up more than 25 years' experience working at blue-chip companies, joins the WPP board with immediate effect.
Day started his career in 1973 as a trainee accountant at Kodak. A year later, he moved to British Gas, where he stayed for five years. In 1980 he joined De La Rue Group, where he held a number of posts before becoming group financial controller.
In 1995, Day was made group finance director at media buying and market research firm,Aegis. He left the Carat-owning company five years later to take on his current role at Reckitt Benckiser.
At the household cleaning products firm, he has overall responsibility for financial controls and reporting, treasury, tax, corporate development, legal affairs and internal auditing.
Day also holds non-executive directorships at EasyJet and Bell Group.
