WPP expands UK market research with acquisition

LONDON - WPP Group has expanded its UK research offering with the acquisition of Sadek Wynberg Research to add to Millward Brown.

The company carries out qualitative research, and works for clients including Coca-Cola, Kimberly-Clark, Bacardi Martini, Unilever and Vodafone.

Sadek Wynberg was founded in 1994 and has 28 employees, with gross revenues for 2002 of 拢5.6m.

Last week, WPP said it had bought a 40% stake in Lisbon-based Marktest Investimentos as it expands the market research arm Kantar Media Research. The company is strengthening its non-advertising assets, although it is still investing in advertising agencies.

Earlier this year, WPP bought the Zurich-based advertising agency Guye Benker as part of its Young & Rubicam network, as well as completing the acquisition of HHCL & Partners.
