World's talking about: Did Ricky Gervais just do that to Optus?

In August 2014, Ricky Gervais appeared in an ad for Netflix, in which he was transported into scenes from some of its best shows. It wasn't very good, probably because Gervais tried too hard to act.

The comedian’s latest effort for Optus (which has struck a streaming deal with Netflix in Australia) is superb, however. Gervais is at his best, playing up to his lazy, arrogant typecast as he explains that he only agreed to do the ads because the company paid him "mental money" and let him do them sitting down.

The spots, which Gervais wrote himself, have gone down well online and are a good reminder of why he was considered such a talent to begin with.
