World's talking about: Operation Boomerang

A blockbuster ad from Meat & Livestock Australia has been amassing both views and complaints.

The humorous online spot aims to sell more lamb ahead of Australia Day on 26 January by showing what looks like a SWAT team scouring the globe for expat Aussies to bring home for the celebration. According to the Advertising Standards Bureau, most of the 250 complaints received were from vegans objecting to a scene in which a bowl of kale is destroyed by a flamethrower. There have also been complaints of discrimination for using the word "boomerang" (an indigenous word) in an ad marking the day colonials arrived in the country.
