The World: Shanghai - Publicis Groupe buys Chinese comms company

Publicis Groupe has acquired China's largest independent interactive marketing agency, Communication Central Group. It will be rebranded as Digitas Greater China, as part of the deal.

Neil Runcieman, the founder of CCG, will become the president and managing director of Digitas Greater China. The company employs 200 people, and has offices in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Beijing and Shenzhen. Its clients include Unilever, Bank of China, Intel and Philips.

Maurice Levy, the chairman and chief executive of Publicis Groupe, said: "Neil and his teams will give our clients reach into the fast-growing Chinese market, and allow Digitas to develop its global presence."
