Marco Benatti, the country manager of WPP Italia, has had his contract terminated following an alleged falling out with the WPP chief executive, Sir Martin Sorrell (pictured).
Benatti claimed he has been forced out because of differences of opinion with Daniela Weber, the WPP Italia managing director. However, WPP said the affair did not concern business or organisational policy disagreements.
In response to Benatti's claims, WPP has employed three teams of lawyers. Benatti has also hired a lawyer.
In the interim, Weber has taken on the leadership of the Italia group.
