The World: New York - MPG wins $100m Danone media account

Groupe Danone has awarded its $100 million media planning and buying account to Media Planning Group.

The agency beat the incumbent, MediaCom, in the last round. The original pitchlist also included PHD and Carat.

The review formed part of a country-by-country review of the media duties of the company. MPG has also recently picked up the business in Mexico, as well as in France.

Andreas Ostermayr, the senior vice-president of marketing for Danone's US business, said the company was going to increase its spend significantly in the region in 2007.

He added: "We are impressed with MPG's strategic counsel, depth of market knowledge and well-established, integrated management of the US and Canadian markets."
