The World: New York - AIG withdraws rest of 2008's corporate advertising

American International Group is pulling all of its corporate advertising up until the end of the year, after news of a government bailout.

The move will affect all of the company's corporate ads, including a major TV spot that featured children who are unable to sleep because they are worried about complex financial situations. The ads carry the strapline: "The strength to be there."

AIG spent approximately $64 million on marketing through the first half of this year. In 2006, it agreed a four-year deal to sponsor Manchester United football club, worth an estimated £56.5 million.
