The call comes from the Music Copyright Society of China, the China Audio-Video Copyright Association and the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry.
They have linked with international and Chinese record companies, which represent about 80 per cent of the Chinese music market, in condemning Baidu.
Its capacity for searching MP3 files is said to be one of the main reasons why Baidu is more popular than Google in China. Record companies have attempted to sue Baidu, but with limited results.
