THE LOWDOWN

A man in a suit and pair of white Ray-Bans becomes the victim of a phantom paint-balling enthusiast in this latest campaign by Cutwater.

Set in a wide open space, the man attempts to get some respite and recline on his chair, but finds he is pursued by a number of different-coloured paint balloons floating in mid-air.

The spot, shot in high-speed Phantom HD, and directed by Francesco Carrozzini, shows the paint balloons hovering before the man's face and then exploding in slow-motion, turning him into a canvas for a Pollock-esque painting.

The man starts laughing as the camera focuses in on the back of his chair, inscribed on the back of which is the strapline: "Never hide."

THE LOWDOWN

Y&R Santiago has created a print campaign for Nutri-Balance dog food with a darkly humorous edge.

Three shots portray dogs disobeying their owners. In the first, a blind man is led to a hole in the pavement; in the second, a dog attempts to topple a house of cards by pulling the tablecloth from under it. The third shows a man being questioned by police, while his dog holds a human hand in its teeth behind him.

The text reads: "Bad food, bad dog." An image of Nutri-Balance food in a dog bowl carries the line: "All the vitamins, all the flavour."

THE LOWDOWN

Saatchi & Saatchi Paris has created a TV campaign to raise awareness of the work being done by Association France Alzheimer.

In a bid to shock viewers with its portrayal of the effects of Alzheimer's, elderly sufferers are shown in common situations related to the disease.

The action cuts between a woman wandering the streets at night in her night clothes, a man shouting at his grandchildren as he mistakes them for thieves, and a woman urinating in a supermarket.

The spot ends with the strapline: "Fortunately. They won't remember."

THE LOWDOWN

The Partners Film director Aleysa Young has created three spots for Fairy produced by Leo Burnett Toronto.

They portray a man being "babied" by his elderly mother in a series of cringe-worthy episodes.

In the bathroom, the mother sits beside her son and plays hide and seek with a rubber duck, while her son bathes.

While watching TV, the mother reminds her son to tell her if he needs the toilet.

Finally, the mother berates her son for chewing on a pen cap, making him spit it out into her hand as he stares up at her in bemusement.

The strapline reads: "You can only baby them when they're babies. Soften their world while you still can."
