LONDON - Wolff Olins is helping the Open University, the distance-learning body, as it attempts to ditch its old-fashioned image.

The old blue and yellow Open University logo has been redesigned by Wolff Olins.

The agency has rebranded the Open University as OU and adopted a more contemporary silver logo.

The identity will be appear on the university's website before a wider campaign next year that will include TV, press, poster and online ads created by FCB London.

The OU said it needed to become more relevant because of increasing competition in higher education.

The university will aim to attract graduates wishing to further their education and attempt to raise its profile and status through a centralised website.
