Alasdhair Willis, advertisement director of Wallpaper, has been promoted to publisher as the company gears up to launch a fashion title.
One of Willis's first tasks in the new role will be to expand the UK commercial team.
He will also begin trawling for sales and marketing people to staff new overseas offices. Wallpaper already has representatives in Germany, Italy, France, Australia, Brazil, Hong Kong, Singapore and the USA.
Willis, who joined Wallpaper in 1997, will remain in charge of ad revenues for the design magazine and its sister sports title Line and also oversee the launch of its fashion magazine, Project Palma.
Project Palma is scheduled to hit newsstands in September, backed by a pounds 2 million marketing spend.
Like Wallpaper, the new offering will target an urban readership. Tyler Brule, editorial director, told Press Gazette the title will be 'more upmarket than Vogue'.
Willis replaces Paul de Zwart, who becomes vice-president/general manager of the Wallpaper Group. De Zwart will focus on brand extensions, licensing deals and chasing business for its creative agency Wink Media.
