William Grant, the spirits firm which markets the Glenfiddich
whisky brand, has handed Tony Hunt responsibility for worldwide sales
and marketing in a management restructure.
Hunt, who was managing director for William Grant & Sons overseas,
becomes managing director for William Grant & Sons International.
Patrick Thomas takes over the role of group managing director, the first
non-family member to take the position.
Thomas, a non-executive director of the company since 1994, is currently
president of cosmetics and skincare company, Lancaster Group. He will
take up his new post on April 10.
Hunt and Thomas replace Glenn Gordon, who held both roles. Gordon
stepped down in December 1999 to become a non-executive director.
A spokesman for the company said: ’The family has made a decision to
step away from the day-to-day running of the business. Thomas and Hunt
will review everything.’
William Grant & Sons International has an annual adspend of pounds 1.2m
in the UK, through McCann-Erickson.
