William Grant to hand global task to overseas boss

William Grant, the spirits firm which markets the Glenfiddich whisky brand, has handed Tony Hunt responsibility for worldwide sales and marketing in a management restructure.

William Grant, the spirits firm which markets the Glenfiddich

whisky brand, has handed Tony Hunt responsibility for worldwide sales

and marketing in a management restructure.



Hunt, who was managing director for William Grant & Sons overseas,

becomes managing director for William Grant & Sons International.



Patrick Thomas takes over the role of group managing director, the first

non-family member to take the position.



Thomas, a non-executive director of the company since 1994, is currently

president of cosmetics and skincare company, Lancaster Group. He will

take up his new post on April 10.



Hunt and Thomas replace Glenn Gordon, who held both roles. Gordon

stepped down in December 1999 to become a non-executive director.



A spokesman for the company said: ’The family has made a decision to

step away from the day-to-day running of the business. Thomas and Hunt

will review everything.’



William Grant & Sons International has an annual adspend of pounds 1.2m

in the UK, through McCann-Erickson.
