Cash payments are slowly becoming obsolete as increasing numbers of event visitors opt to pay for goods using cards.

This can be tricky for exhibitors at short-term festivals, as many traditional card terminals come with high rental fees and long contracts.

Step forward iZettle, a mobile payments start-up which offers a free app and mini card reader to turn an iPhone or iPad into a secure credit card payment terminal.

The iZettle app is free, and retailers are sent a chip-card reader in the post when they register for an account. The only fee is a 2.75% charge on transactions and all cards are accepted.
