The Westminster Collection announces new patron

Venue consortium The Westminster Collection has named Andy Wilson as its new patron.

Wilson is the principal of Westminster Kingsway College, which is an affiliate member of the collection. 

His role forms part of the collection’s goals for 2012, which focus on developing future industry leaders through learning, development and networking opportunities.

Wilson said he is "delighted" to become a patron of the collection and the 53 venues it represents.

"The Westminster Collection is at an exciting point in its development, as is the event management and hospitality industry in London," he said. "The Olympics and Diamond Jubilee celebrations provide the sector with a once in a lifetime opportunity to showcase its services and the collection will ensure that the venues we represent are uniquely placed to take advantage."

He added: "I am particularly pleased that The Westminster Collection has made a new commitment to the development of industry professionals. I look forward to promoting the role of training in providing the vibrant workforce required to secure the future of the industry and success of member businesses."

René Dee, chief executive of The Westminster Collection added: "Andy Wilson is a highly respected professional on the London hospitality circuit, with excellent relationships in the local business community."

In December, Event reported that in March, after eight years at the venue consortium, and will not be replaced.
