It will be the first time in the show’s eight year history that the finale will take place in front of an arena-sized audience.
Wembley has a long relationship with Simon Cowell’s TV series, having hosted the competition's ‘bootcamp’ auditions and London dates of The X Factor Live tour every year.
Wembley Arena general manager John Drury said: "It was good to be in on the early stages of the competition when we hosted this year’s bootcamp, and it’s now a major bonus to be chosen as the venue that will see the ultimate winner crowned."
The final’s sponsor, TalkTalk, which also sponsors the TV series, will be giving away 100 tickets every day for 100 days to TalkTalk customers.
This year’s series of the X Factor has pulled in a record 11 million viewers, and had a 60% audience share in 2010, reaching 20.2 million people.
