Welsh appointed Claydon Heeley MD

Claydon Heeley Jones Mason has promoted its group business director, Mike Welsh, to the role of managing director. The appointment is part of a continuing shake-up at the agency, following the departure of its chief executive, Nigel Jones.

Welsh adds the day-to-day running of the agency to his client responsibilities on Egg and ING. His initial focus will be on maintaining stability as the agency repositions with a more digital focus and moves closer to its sister Omnicom subsidiary Agency Republic.

Welsh will report to Martin Brooks, who added the job of chief executive of Claydon Heeley to his responsibilities running Agency Republic when Jones left.

Welsh joined Claydon Heeley in 2001 from EHS Brann. He led the successful ING pitch in 2003 and last year's Egg pitch. His DM career spans 16 years, including two years at EHS Brann and four at Lowe Direct.

Brooks said: "He's great at getting everyone involved and feeling good about the agency."
