The London science centre has seen a 15% increase in ceremonies this year compared with the same period in 2011, mostly from the healthcare sector.

In another indication of a post-recession revival, The Wellcome Collection has also seen a 40% rise in event enquiries this year compared to last year.

The venue told Event it attributes the awards ceremony increase to the fact that its parent company is a charity that uses profits to fund medical research. This makes it an attractive venue for pharmaceutical companies eager to comply with the ABPI code of practice that promotes CSR, according the the venue.

Rachel Cordier, conference centre manager for the Wellcome Collection said: "We have been delighted to see an increase in prestigious award ceremonies being held at Wellcome Collection."
