The Week: People news - Murdoch mooted for ITV job

Elisabeth Murdoch, the daughter of Rupert Murdoch and founder of Shine Entertainment, has emerged as a contender for the ITV chief executive job.

Murdoch is understood to have been approached by the headhunter Russell Reynolds about taking over from Michael Grade, the outgoing executive chairman. She is thought to be on a list that includes Tony Ball, the former BSkyB chief executive; John Smith, the BBC Worldwide chief executive; Peter Smith, the NBC Universal president, as well as the internal candidates John Cresswell, the chief operating officer, and Rupert Howell, the managing director of ITV brand and commercial.
