The Week: OMD on alert as Coty reviews £30m UK media business

The perfume house Coty has called a review of its £30 million UK media account, which is currently handled by OMD UK.

Coty brands include Jennifer Lopez, JOOP!, Adidas, Rimmel, Calvin Klein, Cerruti, Chloe, Kate Moss, and Vivienne Westwood.

The global cosmetics company consolidated its UK media planning and buying business, which was previously split between OMD and Initiative Media, into OMD into September 2006.

The consolidation followed Coty's acquisition of Unilever's global prestige fragrance business, Unilever Cosmetics International, in 2005. At that time, OMD handled the lion's share of Coty's UK cosmetics business, while Initiative oversaw the £6 million planning and buying for the former Unilever-owned brands.

The company is divided into two divisions, Coty UK, housing the mass-market brands, and Coty Prestige, which includes the former Unilever brands.
