Speaking on BBC Breakfast, the Tory party leader David Cameron said that the regulator should be given the technical function of handing out licences and lightly regulating content, but that it should not have policy-making powers or its own comms department. He also highlighted that the Ofcom head is paid almost £500,000. Ofcom hit back, insisting it provides good value for money.
