The Week: Media News - Standard shows recovery

There are signs that the London Evening Standard's fortunes are turning around under its new ownership, according to the latest National Readership Survey.

In the past six months, the title, now majority-owned by the Russian tycoon Alexander Lebedev, showed a 3 per cent lift in readers on the second half of 2008 to an average of 620,000, according to the NRS. However, its reported readership in the year to the end of June 2009 was down by 2 per cent to 608,000.
