The Week: Media news - Ofcom raps ITV police show

A Home Office-funded ITV series has come under fire from Ofcom for breaking the rules of transparency for sponsored programming.

The programme, Beat: Life On The Street, which followed the work of police community support officers, only displayed the Home Office logo for around three seconds, which Ofcom deemed "inconspicuous". A rule prohibiting promotional references to sponsors within programming was also broken by the series.
