The Week: Media news - Lebedev boosts investment

Alexander Lebedev, the owner of the London Evening Standard, is pumping £4.5 million into the paper in an attempt to return it to profitability.

The Russian oligarch, who bought 75.1 per cent of the title from the Daily Mail & General Trust in January, is paying the money to help with running costs. It is part of the £25 million he has promised to fund the paper over three years.
