The Week: Media news - Canvas set to cost £24m

Project Canvas, the internet video-on-demand venture between the BBC, ITV and BT, will cost the partners £24 million to get off the ground.

The BBC Trust has launched a consultation into the proposals, to be completed by 24 July this year, with the partners hoping to launch Canvas on Freeview, the free-to-air digital terrestrial TV service, and Freesat, the subscription-free digital satellite TV service, in early 2010.
