The budget rise, spanning three years, marks an increase of 27 per cent on its existing online spend, although it falls short of the £52.7 million the BBC requested last December. The Trust also gave the go-ahead to a £1.5 billion five-year budget, which includes a number of significant cutbacks. These will be made in part by reducing the fees it pays to top presenters, as well as freezing the pay of BBC senior management.
