The Week: E.ON calls review of £20 million advertising business

E.ON has called a review of its £20 million advertising account, currently held by TBWA\London.

The energy provider is looking to cut costs and spend in 2009 and hone its communications strategy by giving its advertising a more retail focus.

Jeremy Davis, the new director of brand and communications, who moved to E.ON from the Santander-owned bank Abbey, and Catherine Woolfe, the head of advertising and communications, will run the pitch, which is being handled by Agency Insight.

The company is currently compiling a longlist, with meetings due to take place in the next two weeks. A shortlist is expected to be announced in early February, with pitches following shortly afterwards.

TBWA will continue to produce work for E.ON's FA Cup sponsorship until the final of the competition in May. The agency will repitch.

The media planning and buying account, handled by MediaCom since August 2008, is unaffected by the decision.
