The Week: DDB London picks up global Flora and Becel ad brief

Unilever has appointed DDB London to handle a global advertising brief for its Flora and Becel margarine brands.

DDB London, which already holds a place on the Unilever roster as the UK advertising agency on Marmite, won the account after a long-running pitch against Bartle Bogle Hegarty, the incumbent.

It will now create a campaign to run across Western Europe and North America next year, which is expected to use Flora's brand idea of heart health.

BBH has handled the Flora and Becel accounts since 2004, producing a series of high-profile ads for the brands, including a recent "love your heart" campaign that aimed to promote Flora's health benefits. However, Unilever has recently appointed other agencies to handle ad projects for the brand.

In February, Unilever appointed Krow to work on an advertising project to support Flora's "cooking with schools" initiative. The agency already works on the Flora pro.activ and Flora Buttery ranges.
