The Week: Advertising news - Sky refunds Home Office

Sky has refunded the Home Office's £400,000 contribution to a new documentary series UK Border Force in a bid to avoid controversy over the Government's involvement in ad-funded programming.

Sky said it wanted to reassure viewers that the programme, which started last week, is "wholly independent". Ofcom is currently investigating whether ITV's Beat: Life on the Street, which is also backed by the Home Office, breached its broadcasting code.
