The Week: Advertising news - Net adspend will eclipse TV

UK internet advertising will overtake TV spend by 2009, according to a report from WPP's Group M, becoming the world's first major economy to pass the milestone.

The media group forecasts that online adspend will be on the brink of overtaking TV by the end of 2008, when it will account for 24.8 per cent of spend compared with TV's 26 per cent. It will then need to increase by just 6 per cent to overtake TV spend the following year.
