The Week: Advertising news - GM ends Tiger endorsement

General Motors is ending its nine-year endorsement deal with Tiger Woods at the end of the year.

In a statement, the car manufacturer said that the split was "mutual and amicable" and was a result of its "search for budget efficiencies during a difficult economy" and the golfer's "desire for more personal time". General Motors has been hit hard by the recession and falling US car sales. It warned that it would run out of money by early 2009.
