Weakest Link remains strong in US ratings

UK gameshow export The Weakest Link remained at the top of US TV ratings this week, netting 14.1m viewers on Monday night as speculation mounted that it could be scheduled to compete head-to-head with rival UK export Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?.

LONDON (Brand Republic) - UK gameshow export The Weakest Link remained at the top of US TV ratings this week, netting 14.1m viewers on Monday night as speculation mounted that it could be scheduled to compete head-to-head with rival UK export Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?.

Millionaire regularly attracts 19m viewers on ABC, the Disney-owned network which airs the show.

The two shows are archrivals in the UK -- Millionaire is ITV鈥檚 ratings winner, while The Weakest Link is broadcast on the BBC.

The show, hosted by Anne Robinson, attracted 15m and 14m respectively on the first two nights it was shown in the US, making it the second most-watched show. On the third night, it pulled 17.1m viewers, making it the US鈥檚 most-watched TV show that night.
