Canadian retailer Sport Chek gets sentimental about hockey

Every great athlete has a great support system, and by all accounts, The Great One has one of the best. Hockey legend Wayne Gretzky waxes poetic about his dad, Walter Gretzky, in a new Father’s Day spot from TBWA for Canadian sports retailer Sport Chek. The elder Gretzky is revered in Canada for his charitable work and his humbleness, and his son voices a greeting card-style ode set against home movies of hockey-playing children and their fathers, as well as archival news footage of the two Gretzkys. The 45-second spot made its TV debut Monday night during Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals. It runs online through Father’s Day and is being shared by Gretzky’s Twitter account.
