Waterstone's to try affiliate marketing

Affiliate marketing provider TradeDoubler has partnered with Waterstone's to provide a product-specific affiliation programme.

Affiliate marketing provider TradeDoubler has partnered with Waterstone's to provide a product-specific affiliation programme.

Affiliate partners can sign up for the programme through either the TradeDoubler site or via Waterstone's Online (www.waterstones.co.uk).

They can direct users to product-specific areas within Waterstone's web site. Partner sites will earn a six per cent commission on every sale made through its site, of which TradeDoubler will take a 30 per cent cut.

TradeDoubler will also offer affiliates a straightforward banner, button and text link affiliate programme for partner sites.

TradeDoubler's marketing manager Will Cooper said the programme will be an effective way to increase the online presence for a clicks-and-mortar company such as Waterstone's.

'The conversion rate for banner ads is normally around 0.3 per cent. However, the rate for click to sale, based on affiliate programmes, can vary from two to 25 per cent,' he said.

TradeDoubler has also developed a content-specific affiliate package for cut-price e-tailer bigsave.com, which enables users of partnering sites to link to related categories within the bigsave.com site. It recently signed 10 clients to its affiliate programmes, including lingerie site Easyshop.
