9.45am-10.05am: The Truth about Youth: Lifestyle
Youth specialists unveil brand new research. In the first of three sessions, they delve into the worlds of 14- to 24-year-olds to unpick how their stage of life affects their behaviour and what this means for their burgeoning relationship with media.
10.05am-10.25am: Inside the millennial mind
Leading academic Adam Galpin, senior lecturer in Media Psychology at the University of Salford, looks at identity, neuronal changes and the emotional development of young people to explore what influences their media behaviour.
10.25am-10.55am: The Truth about Youth: Media
Platypus Research's second session zeroes in on media, with a focus on both long and short form video, to understand the main drivers of their consumption.
10.50am-11.15am: Making Channel 4’s Teens
Channel 4’s series followed a group of friends coping with teenage life in the age of smartphones and social media. Commissioning editor Emma Cooper will tell us how Teens was made, what the stars felt about sharing every detail of their lives, and what the production team learned on location about the lives of young people today.
11.15am-11:45am: How PlayStation reached the youth market
A documentary interlude.
11.45am-12.10pm: Question time
Host for the morning Billie JD Porter (journalist, TV presenter, etc) chairs a Q&A with the speakers.
12.10pm-12.30pm: The Truth about Youth and advertising
Platypus Research discusses 14-24s’ attitudes towards advertising and how they consume it.
12.30pm-12:50pm: What I’ve learned about youth marketing
Expert advice from the agency and advertiser worlds on how they approach marketing to younger people. With Karl Guard, Head of Strategy, ZenithOptimedia Group, and Sarah Pirrie, UK Marketing manager, Colour Cosmetics, Coty (Rimmel).
