A giant talking spider, a dog in a Darth Vader costume, zombie pageant girls: these are some of our favourite Halloween ads from the last five years.

Skittles (2014)

A giant spider describes his unlikely friendship with a boy in this spot by DDB Chicago. Watch for the amusing twist at the end.

Ikea (2014)

The retailer’s online film is a spoof of the Big Wheel scene from The Shining. It was created by Bartle Bogle Hegarty.

Carling (2013)

Made by Creature, Carling’s ad shows the brand regulars Dylan and Jon preparing for a Halloween party. Dylan, who is dressed as a voodoo priest, starts to control Jon using a magic doll.

Verizon (2013)

A nerdy family decked out in Star Wars costumes goes trick or treating in this ad by Mcgarrybowen.

Mini (2013)

A couple runs through the woods and seeks refuge from monsters in a Mini, only to find that the scary creatures are running from something as well. The ad was made by Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners.

LG (2012)

The electronics company’s video pranking elevator riders went viral when it was released. SuperHeroes made the spot.

Dirt Devil (2011)

The vacuum cleaner brand depicts a priest coming to help a woman who appears to be possessed – but it’s not all as it seems.

Snickers (2010)

A creepy lady in a grocery store forces a woman to buy lots of Snickers for trick or treaters. The character was turned into its own Halloween costume.
