The TV ad features people celebrating Christmas in different ways to encourage customers to buy their festive goods at Waitrose regardless of what they like most about the season.
Food featured in the spot includes Wookey Hole Cave aged cheddar, Signature Spice Christmas Pudding, Heston from Waitrose Chocolate Buck's Fizz Swirl, turkey breast parcel with pork and gingerbread and apricot stuffing.
A 60-second version of the ad breaks online today and will first air on TV on Sunday 8 November. The main film will be complemented by 10-second "moments", 20-second product ads, press and digital display.
On social media Waitrose will share images and videos about the things that make Christmas special and ask people to share their thoughts using the hashtag #MakesChristmas.
Patrick McClelland and Feargal Ballance wrote the ad. It was directed by Simon Ratigan through HLA. Ratigan also directed Adam & Eve/DDB’s first ad for Waitrose (below). Media is by Manning Gottlieb OMD.
The music in the spot is the 1940s Jazz song Everybody Eats When They Come To My House by Cab Calloway.
Rupert Thomas, the marketing director at Waitrose, said: "We celebrate with food, we unwind with food, we get to know each other with food. Delicious things to eat make the moments that matter even more memorable, especially at Christmas."
