Wasserman expands into Europe with London office

LONDON – Wasserman Media Group, the US sports marketing agency that represented Arsenal in its naming rights deal with Emirates Airlines, is opening a London office to expand its European operations.

By expanding into Europe, WMG hopes to win high-profile naming rights, sponsorship and athlete representation business.

WMG has appointed a new executive team to run its European office. Sports marketing veteran Jeff Slack, who handled marketing for Inter Milan and Michael Jordan, has been appointed as executive vice-president of European sales.

Slack founded sports marketing and consulting firm Elysium Advisors, where he worked with Odeco Sports and Toyota.

Former MotoGP stars Jamie Dobb and Randy Mamola have been brought in to extend WMG's management expertise.

Dobb is a former 11-time Motocross Grand Prix winner while Mamola is a 13-time motorcycle Grand Prix Race winner. Each negotiated their own high-profile sponsorship deals during their careers.

Casey Wasserman, chairman and chief executive of WMG, said: "By committing to a European presence, we're expanding our footprint and leveraging our relationships, resources and experience to create further success for athletes, brands and properties globally."

WMG is headquarted in Los Angeles with offices in New york, North Carolina and San Diageo.
