Wall's Micro Sausage ad targets time-starved youth

LONDON - Impatient youth are the target of the latest advertisements for sausage brand Wall's, with a television spot asking 'What else are you going to do in 60 seconds?'.

The advertisement is for Wall's Micro Sausages and was created by McCann-Erickson London. In a 30-second spot, the hero of the ad, Barry, is shown dressed only in his underpants, being challenged by his flatmates to complete a humorous task within a one-minute deadline.

He rushes into the garden and frantically starts pulling clothes from the washing line, with the reward of a Wall's Micro Sausages sandwich.

The ad finishes with a voiceover saying "What else are you going to do in 60 seconds?". The McCann creative team behind the ad was Al Morrice and Paul Diver, and it was directed by Jake & Jim at Godman. Media planning and buying for the campaign is though Universal McCann.

It will be shown on national television, during programmes aimed at 16- to 34-year-old adults.

Chris Hunton, chief executive of McCann-Erickson, said: "This is yet another innovative product within an expanding portfolio for Wall's. Our challenge was to convey a message of great taste and convenience to a time-starved consumer -- all in a market that is dominated by own label."

The Wall's sausage brand is owned by Kerry Foods.
