Wall Street Journal names Barry as new marketing chief

LONDON - The Wall Street Journal has appointed Judy Barry, a former group director of The New York Times Magazine, as its president of marketing and business development.

Barry joins the publishing group following a stint running her own consultancy business Cappaneale Media Consulting, and was group director of the New York Times Magazine between 1997 and 1999.

She replaces Jim Donoghue, who was recently appointed chief operating officer of financial information services for Dow Jones Newswires.

Dow Jones has also made two additions to its London-based ad sales team.

The group has promoted Claudio Piovesana -- the former regional sales manager for Dow Jones International for the last five years -- to the job of advertising group head.

The new role will see Piovesana move over from Paris, and he will cover all Dow Jones publications, including all print editions of the Wall Street Journal, as well as WSJ.com and the Review.

In addition, Caroline Taluy has been made European sales manager for the Far Eastern Economic Review after two years as a sales executive with the Dow Jones International team in London.
