To show support for the organisation, which was founded in 2006 by U2’s Bono and activist Bobby Shriver, the venue’s exterior will glow red on World AIDS Day (1 December). On the same night W London will host a fundraising party for 100 guests, organised in-house. It will be open to the general public and will feature Jaime Winstone as the event’s celebrity DJ, as well as a few surprises to enable guests to raise money for the cause.
These will include a gift photobooth in which guests will be able to have photos and videos taken with a celebrity in exchange for a donation to RED, as well as a beauty station from cosmetic brand Cheeky, which will allow attendees to receive red-themed makeovers and manicures.
For film fans, W London will also transform its fortnightly W Film Club to support RED, hosting two special Sunday film club events. It will consist of screenings of Dallas Buyers Club on 30 November and Precious on 7 December.
The ticketed events will take place in W London’s screening room and guests will be able to enjoy box of popcorn and specially-designed GlitteRED cocktails – a mix of Belvedere RED vodka, Aperol, amaretto, raspberry purée, vanilla syrup, apple and lemon juice, finished with popping candy. All proceeds from the W Film Club RED events will go directly to the AIDS organisation.
