Make your vote count: what's your favourite TV ad of all time?

With the 60th anniversary of UK TV advertising almost upon us, Marketing implores you to nominate your favourite examples of gogglebox brand engagement across the past six decades. Leave your comment below, email or tweet.

Which ad gets your vote? Are you backing gorillias, horses, martians, meerkats or something completely different?

Believe it or not, British television advertising is now a hexagenarian. The first commercial was broadcast into the lounges of those lucky enough to have a set in 1955.

That ad was for Gibbs SR toothpaste. It featured a tube of said product encased in a block of ice symbolic of its "tingling freshness". This pioneering embrace of new media was the metaphorical neanderthal to today’s multi-channel, interactive campaigns. Along this evolutionary journey of TV advertising, we have witnessed some truly breathtaking and effective pieces of small screen marketing.

But what have been your favourites? Try to think beyond the obvious. Go back to the early days, through to the 70s, 80s and 90s and into the present day. Tell us why a particular ad made such an impact? Did it make you laugh or cry? Did it make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end? Did it make you go out and buy? Do you admire it from a personal or professional point of view (or both)? Feel free to nominate as many as you like.
