Vodafone is to open a support centre at Heathrow Airport offering
existing and prospective customers advice on how to get best use out of
their phones.
Provisionally called the Vodafone Zone and targeted mainly at business
travellers, the outlet in the departure lounge at Heathrow's Terminal 1
will offer customer service, a technical helpdesk, advice and
demonstrations of Vodafone's products.
It will also provide an interactive area where travellers can learn how
to use the internet on their phones. Customers will be able to charge
their phones and arrange international roaming.
Vodafone UK's corporate marketing director Rob Schweidler said the idea
is to help consumers get the most out of their phones in a friendly,
relaxed atmosphere.
He added: "There are lots of places where you can go and buy a phone;
the real issue is getting the best usage out of phones and services.
What do we get out of it? Lots of happy customers."
The zone, organised in conjunction with JCDecaux Airport's sponsorship
division, will open in March from 6am to 7pm seven days a week.
If successful, Vodafone will run a network of support centres at
European airports.
Separately, Vodafone is airing two new television advertisements next
week, created by WCRS.
They are designed to encourage subscribers to make more use of their
mobiles.
