The logo will be used to bring all Vodafone's 3G phone services - including video calls, mobile video and mobile email - under one banner.
The package will be called 3G in the UK and UMTS in Europe, surprising industry watchers who feel the majority of consumers don't understand what 3G means or what services it offers.
Vodafone is planning extensive marketing and advertising activity to promote next-generation services and content. As part of this, it is preparing a new version of its mobile content and data offering, Vodafone Live!
This is expected to offer better gaming, content, faster access and video-calls. A music download service has also been mooted.
Vodafone has not yet confirmed when the services will be available in the UK, though it is widely expected to introduce them by the end of the summer. Last week the company announced plans to begin the roll-out in Portugal and Germany.
Vodafone has assembled a top marketing team to lead the roll-out, including David Wheldon, head of the Vodafone team at WPP, and Anna Russell, the former head of brand at rival O2.
