Vivendi Universal director leaves BSkyB board

Vivendi Universal director Eric Licoys has stepped down from his position as non-executive director of BSkyB.

LONDON (Brand Republic) - Vivendi Universal director Eric Licoys has stepped down from his position as non-executive director of BSkyB.

The announcement follows reports earlier this week that Vivendi would begin to sever ties with the UK satellite broadcaster, which is 37.5% owned by News Corporation.

Vivendi agreed to sell its 27.5% stake in BSkyB in exchange for clearance of its merger with Seagram and Canal +. European anti-trust regulators were concerned that Canal +鈥檚 strong position in several EU pay-TV markets would be strengthened by a link with BSkyB.
