Visa International hunts agency for European strategy

NEW YORK - Visa International is looking for an agency to work on a repositioning assignment for the brand in Europe and Asia, reported to be worth $40m (拢21m).

The search is being conducted by Visa's executive vice-president of brand marketing, John Elkin, out of California, according to reports. He is contacting agencies for credentials.

Visa last month awarded Saatchi & Saatchi a 拢10m brief to relaunch the credit card in the UK, including the first national television advertising. There are plans for the campaign to run for three years.

Saatchi & Saatchi also works on pan-European strategy for the Visa brand, a job it picked up in 2002. The Visa business is divided into two parts and Grey won the Visa International account in February 2003. This includes the central and eastern European regions as well as the Middle East and Africa.

Media planning and buying for the whole account is handled by Mediaedge:cia.
