The report, by ON24, shows that in-person training and events are being replaced by virtual alternatives.

"While the first adoption wave of virtual events has been largely as an alternative to a traditional trade show, the survey results show that virtual environments are now being adopted throughout the enterprise, for a variety of corporate communications and meeting applications," said ON24 chief marketing officer Denise Persson.

"This is supported by market data, as the demand for virtual events increased more than 100% in 2009, and the same level of growth is anticipated for 2010."

87% of respondents said their company has already begun using virtual events (52%) or plans to begin using them (35%) to supplement their physical events in 2010.
